About SAKI FURUYA

古谷 咲

古谷咲は、東京をベースに世界中で活躍する空間アーティスト/壁画アーティストである。

東京生まれ。武蔵野美術大学空間演出デザイン学科卒業。
芸術家系でもあり、幼少期から建築物やアート作品に対する審美眼を養う。世の中にはものや情報が溢れているという気づきは、廃材・自然物など「すでにそこに在るもの」への興味へと転化し、作品制作における“減らす美”の哲学的根拠となっている。
すべての作品は、自分の内側から生まれるもの。そのため、自身を取り巻く不要な情報やノイズを日常的に取り除き、感覚を研ぎ澄ませることを制作の一部としている。
空間がどれほど人に影響を与えているかということを、壁画・インスタレーション・参加型ワークショップなどを通して体験として届けることで、自身も空間の無限の可能性を問い続けている。
どの作品においても、「空間から不要なものを取り除き、本質的な余白を生み、そこに入り込むことで何かが始まる」という体験設計であることは変わらない。
「イイ無駄してる？」この問いを携え、国内外で作品を発表している。

Saki Furuya

Saki Furuya is a Tokyo-based spatial artist and muralist working internationally.

She was born in Tokyo and graduated from the Department of Spatial Design at Musashino Art University.
Raised in a family with a strong artistic background, she developed an early sensitivity to architecture and art. Her awareness of the overwhelming abundance of objects and information in contemporary society gradually evolved into an interest in materials that already exist—such as discarded objects and elements from nature—forming the philosophical foundation of her practice: the beauty of reduction.
Every work emerges from within herself. For this reason, she continually removes unnecessary information and external noise from her own surroundings, treating this process of subtraction as an essential part of her creative practice.
Through murals, installations, and participatory workshops, Furuya creates experiences that reveal how profoundly space influences people, while continuously exploring the limitless possibilities of space itself.
Across all of her works, her approach remains consistent: removing what is unnecessary from a space to create an essential sense of openness, where entering that space becomes the beginning of something
new.
“Unnecessary? Good.” Guided by this question, she presents her work both in Japan and internationally.
